I invite you to join the conversation around why South Africa’s digital divide is so
entrenched, find out how Project Isizwe and others are building bridges across it, and
what you can do – within your context – to help.
Share your Wi-Fi password with your domestic worker (whatever term you’re
comfortable with), lend your voice and support to your local municipalities efforts to
bring the Internet to the public, do nearby schools in your area struggle to connect, or
teach computer skills? Perhaps you can help there? It is challenging, but there are
many of us already involved to bridge the divide – join us.
Remember that little boy in Atteridgeville? Imagine if not only he has digital access,
but access to some of the brightest minds and leading teachers through teaching
platforms like Hello Tutor, Siyavula or GetSmarter? He will then matriculate as a digital
native, able to compete with the rest of the world, as an academic and a professional,
within an economy which is fast becoming digital.
